“Arizona Dream” (1991)

Directed by: Emir Kusturica
Genre: fantasy, drama, melodrama, comedy
Countries: France, USA
Duration: 02:22

The first and the only one film directed by Kusturica in Hollywood was designed on the basis of his student David Atkins’s script after some additions.
“Arizona Dream” expresses the creative credo of Kusturica as a specific art movement direction, in which special attention is paid to a very simple and close to life reality. At the same time, both Axel, similar to Kusturica in many ways, and all the rest heroes are able to dream and not afraid of doing it.
The ordinary is intertwined with eccentricity, a dream with reality, seriousness quickly turns into irony. Moreover, all these are happening with the stylistic recognition, ease and sincerity familiar to the Director. It allows an audience to be in action and empathise with the heroes, think and dream like them.
The film will be shown in the original with Russian subtitles. Admission is free.
