“Ilyich’s Outpost” (1964): The main charachter is 20 year-old Sergey who has just got out of the army. He is employed to a thermal power plant and starts living an ordinary life. He spends time with his childhood friends, a newlywed Slava and a funny guy Nikolay. One day, he falls in love at first sight with a stranger who is on the bus. All these guys are the first soviet generation who doubt and are looking for their place in life. This movie became one of the main symbols of the Khrushchev Thaw of the early 1960s. The film, then called “I’m 20 years old”, was first released in 1965. It will be shown in the Cinema Club in the full version of the 1988 montage.
