Exhibition “Science in comics”

Culture

From 5 December 2021 to 10 January 2022, an exhibition “Science in comics” will be held in the JINR Blokhintsev Universal Public Library (13/7 Blokhintsev str.).

On Sunday, 5 December, at 5:00 PM, the opening ceremony of the new exhibition will be held.

In 2018, a new format of science popularisation appeared in Russia – comics based on current scientific research.

Drawn stories about work of researchers of the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) were collected in a book “That’s true! A baker’s dozen comic strips about science and scientists”. The main characters of the stories are Russian leading scientists: Mikhail Gelfand, Konstantin Severinov, Albert Nasibulin, and others.

The book was long-listed for the 2019 Educator Award and became a finalist of the Vth All-Russian Award “For Loyalty to Science” in 2019. It received the 2nd degree award in the special award nomination “Breakthrough of the Year”.
