JINR hosted a round table in the frames of «ATOMEXPO-2017»

On 20 June 2017, in the frames of the business agenda of the IX International Forum «ATOMEXPO-2017», JINR hosted a round table «Commercial and non-commercial use of research reactors and Centres of nuclear science and technology (CNST)», organized with the participation of the JSC «Rusatom Overseas». During the round table, about 90 experts from over 20 countries discussed the key issues related to establishment and operation of CNSTs. In the frames of the event, participants visited the experimental laboratories of the Institute and were acquainted with the JINR experience in organization of international scientific and technical cooperation.

On 21 June, in the wake of the round table, more than 50 journalists arrived to JINR; most of them were representing the JINR Member States: Armenia, Belarus, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, and Russia. Among the participants there were also representatives of countries of South-East Asia, Africa and South America. The journalists interviewed representatives of JINR national groups, got acquainted with applied research of Laboratories of the Institute, had meetings with scientists.

Holding the high-level round table and the press tour in the frames of “ATOMEXPO-2017” was one of the notable events in a number of activities reflecting the increasing trend of interest to JINR beyond the borders of the JINR Member States. So, a month ago, in May 2017, JINR hosted the first meeting of the BRICS Working Group on Research Infrastructure and Mega-Science projects. The Media Days at JINR have become regular event in the JINR agenda since 2016. And since the beginning of 2017, JINR has already been visited by governmental delegations of Bolivia, Zambia, and Paraguay which are countries starting the development of national expertise in the fields of applied nuclear sciences and are interested in the experience of JINR.
