The members of JINR today are 15 states: the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Bulgaria, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Georgia, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, the Republic of Cuba, Mongolia, the Russian Federation, Romania, the Slovak Republic, and the Republic of Uzbekistan. Hungary, Germany, Italy, Serbia, the Republic of South Africa, Brazil, China, and Mexico are associate members and partner states of the Institute.

In accordance with the Charter, the Institute carries out its activities on the principles of equal and mutually beneficial cooperation of the member states and openness for all interested countries to join the multilateral scientific, technical and educational cooperation implemented at JINR.
