JINR Newsletter #15, 22 April 2026Dear colleagues and friends, The 17th MPD Collaboration Meeting is taking place at the Laboratory of High Energy Physics at JINR. Topping the agenda is the progress of the Multi-Purpose Detector at the NICA Accelerator Complex and its readiness for the next physics run. The participants include about 200 scientists from 11 countries. Last week, JINR hosted a workshop for students, researchers, and social media representatives from all over the world. The event was aimed at enhancing the skills of young science popularisers in order to facilitate the development of science and education in their home countries. Flagship ProjectsMPD Collaboration prepares for first experiments at NICAThis week, the Laboratory of High Energy Physics at JINR is hosting the 17th MPD Collaboration Meeting. About 200 scientists from 11 countries are discussing the progress of the NICA Accelerator Complex and the Multi-Purpose Detector.
EducationSeminar titled “Scientific Russia through eyes of young people from abroad” held in DubnaOver 30 students and young researchers from 24 countries living in Russia shared unique experiences in popularising science through social media. The event was organized with the JINR participation.
Immersion in world of hadrons: JINR held school on physics of quark-gluon matterFrom 10 to 14 April, JINR and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology held an intensive on hadron matter physics for undergraduate students in Dubna. In addition to attending lectures covering theoretical and experimental aspects of the field, the participants toured JINR laboratories. READ MORE ➟Dubna high schoolers participated in science school in CairoHosted by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, the school provided career guidance and introduced the participants to Egypt’s scientific centres and their studies.
PublicationsReview of Particles & Nuclei, Letters, #2 2026The JINR Publishing Department has issued the second part of this year’s volume of the “Physics of Elementary Particles and Atomic Nuclei, Letters” journal that includes articles on theoretical, experimental, technical, methodical, and applied research.
