JINR Newsletter #25, 2 July 2026Dear colleagues and friends, JINR’s recent agenda was highlighted by international scientific events covering a rich variety of cutting-edge research areas. These included a visit to South Africa, where JINR scientists successfully integrated a nuclear spectroscopy method for the study of radiopharmaceuticals. JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov represented the Institute at the Obninsk NEW 2026 international forum in Kaluga, reinforcing JINR’s commitment to fostering global scientific exchange in peaceful nuclear energy. The event brought together over 700 participants from 85 countries. JINR Press Office Advisory BodiesPAC CMP focused on construction of IBR–2 facilities and FLNP user programmeThe 63rd meeting of the PAC for Condensed Matter Physics took place on 25–26 June. Topping the agenda were the IBR-2 progress, prospects for creating a new neutron source, and the development of a neutron imaging and small-angle scattering spectrometer. In addition, the committee members discussed scientific talks. READ MORE ➟CooperationJINR and South African scientific centres join efforts in radiopharmaceuticals researchJINR specialists together with colleagues from the Necsa Nuclear Energy Corporation and the NRF: iThemba LABS are conducting research in nuclear medicine. The recent working visit of DLNP scientists to South Africa resulted in an integration of the nuclear spectrometry of perturbed angular correlations for the study of radiopharmaceuticals. READ MORE ➟Conferences“Future belongs to nuclear energy and technology”: Grigory Trubnikov at Obninsk NEW 2026 forumOn 26 June, the fourth Obninsk NEW 2026 international youth forum took place in Kaluga Region, Russia. JINR Director moderated the plenary session entitled “Nuclear Energy for the Future of Humanity: Synergy of Technologies, Knowledge and Partnerships”. READ MORE ➟JINR at IAEA International Conference on Accelerators in AustriaDelegation from VBLHEP and FLNR headed by JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov visited the event, which gathered 400 participants from 76 countries. The Institute’s representatives gave talks dedicated to the NICA Collider, accelerator technology innovations and AI, and took part in a poster session. READ MORE ➟Dubna MSU branch holds 39th All-Russian Conference on Cosmic RaysThe event brought together about 270 participants from scientific centres of Russia, China, India, and Kazakhstan. JINR employees made a significant contribution to the organization of the event and the preparation of the scientific programme, which includes about 100 talks and over 90 poster presentations on cosmic ray physics. READ MORE ➟Seminar on applied research using beams of accelerated heavy ions took place at FLNR at JINRThe event initiated by the Scientific Leader of the Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Yuri Oganessian gathered more than 60 participants from about 20 organizations. The scientific programme included applications of track membranes and tests of the electronic components for radiation resistance. READ MORE ➟EducationBLTP JINR opened “Nuclear Dynamics: from Stars to Colliders” international schoolThe event is organized as part of the DIAS-TH (Dubna International Advanced School of Theoretical Physics) scientific and educational project. The school is for students, postgraduates, and young scientists from Russia, China, Cuba, India, and Kazakhstan interested in fundamental issues of nuclear physics and modern methods of solving them.
