Dzhelepov Laboratory of Nuclear Problems

DLNP joint laboratory seminar

Date and Time: Tuesday, 20 September 2022, at 11:00 AM

Venue: DLNP Conference Hall, Dzhelepov Laboratory of Nuclear Problems

Seminar topic: “Development and application of Micromegas detectors in experiments with JINR participation (ATLAS, NICA)”

Speaker: Uladzimir Kruchonak

Abstract:

Micro Mesh Gas Detectors (Micromegas) are increasingly being used in modern high-energy physics experiments. 32 large-area Micromegas chambers were assembled at EDCB (DLNP, JINR) and used in the upgrade of the ATLAS muon spectrometer in 2021. More than a quarter of the detecting area of the New Small Wheels is covered with them. A production site for Bulk Micromegas chambers was established, and the Micromegas Central Tracker is being developed for the NICA SPD experiment.
