139th session of JINR Scientific Council announcement

On 19–20 February 2026, the 139th session of the Scientific Council of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research will take place at the JINR International Conference Centre in a hybrid format. The latest JINR news and achievements will be presented at the meeting. The programme of the session includes the election of the Deputy Director of the Dzhelepov Laboratory of Nuclear Problems, a number of scientific presentations, and the announcement of the winners of the annual prizes for the best scientific papers.

   Programme of the 139th SC session

Director of the Joint Institute, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Grigory Trubnikov will open the session with a talk on JINR activities. The Chairs of the Programme Advisory Committees, Itzhak Tserruya (PAC for Particle Physics), Valery Nesvizhevsky (PAC for Nuclear Physics), and Dénes Lajos Nagy (PAC for Condensed Matter Physics), will introduce the audience to the PAC recommendations adopted at the sessions in January 2026.

The programme of the first day will continue with scientific presentations: Michel Spiro will talk about the activities of the International Union of Theoretical and Applied Physics (IUPAP) and the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (2024–2033), Ana María Cetto Kramis and Alejandro Ayala will give an overview of the landscape of nuclear research in Mexico. The “Towards the synthesis of element 119” talk will be presented by Scientific Leader of the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions, Academician Yuri Oganessian. The election of DLNP JINR Deputy Director will take place as part of the closed session.

On 20 February, young scientists of the Institute will give presentations recommended by the Programme Advisory Committees. Dmitry Dolzhikov (DLNP) will present the first results of the JUNO Experiment on solar neutrino oscillation parameters, Batzhargal Ulzutuev (DLNP) will talk about the study of the galactic neutrino flux using the Baikal-GVD Telescope, and Evgeny Kolupaev (FLNP) will present the development of reflectometric techniques in oscillating magnetic fields on the REMUR Polarised Neutron Spectrometer.

At the end of the session, JINR Vice-Director, Academician Vladimir Kekelidze will announce the jury’s decision on awarding annual JINR prizes for the best scientific, methodological, and technical studies, and Grigory Trubnikov will name new JINR Honorary Doctors. A general discussion and adoption of the resolution of the Scientific Council will conclude the 139th meeting.
