A review of the results of experiments carried out on the beams of the Synchrophasotron and Nuclotron at JINR is given. In beams of protons and d, α, and 12C nuclei with a momentum of 4.5 GeV/c per nucleon, the production of π0 mesons near and behind the kinematic boundary for a nucleon-nucleon collision has been studied. The production of π0– and η-mesons was studied on internal beams of protons and deuterons with momenta from 1.75 to 5.5 GeV/c per nucleon.
