Аннотация:
A relativistic quantum-mechanical description of twisted Dirac particles in uniform magnetic and electric fields is presented. The general quantum-mechanical solution of the relativistic paraxial equation obtained for a uniform magnetic field contains the commonly accepted result as a specific case of unstructured electron waves. Unlike precedent investigations, the present study describes Laguerre-Gauss beams that are not plane waves along the magnetic field direction. The relativistic quantum-mechanical description of a charged Laguerre-Gauss beam in a uniform electric field was made. It is shown that charged particle beams keep their coherence and OAMs in a uniform electric field despite the emission of photons. Stationary wave eigenfunctions are rigorously derived. The evolution of the beam parameters during acceleration is considered in detail. The practically important effect of extraordinary suppression of transverse spreading of the beam is discovered, carefully analysed, and properly explained. The results provide direct evidence that vortex particle beams can be accelerated in linear accelerators without destroying their intrinsic vortex properties.
