How RSA works – what is behind the most widely used public-key algorithm in the world?

Seminars

Seminar “Modern Mathematical Physics”

Date and Time: Tuesday, 30 October 2018, at 2:30 PM

Venue: Blokhintsev Hall (4th floor), Bogoliubov Laboratory of Theoretical Physics

Seminar topic: «How RSA works – what is behind the most widely used public-key algorithm in the world?»

Speaker: Martin Bures (BLTP and Institute of Experimental and Applied Physics, CTU Prague, Czechia)

Abstract:

Public-key cryptographic systems such as RSA rely on the infeasibility of factorization of integers which are product of large prime numbers. We will explain how RSA works, show a proof of its correctness and discuss possible attacks on RSA.
