Dzhelepov Laboratory of Nuclear Problems

Joint Laboratory Seminar

Date and Time: Wednesday, 13 May 2026, at 15:00

Venue: Conference Hall, Dzhelepov Laboratory of Nuclear Problems, online on Zoom

Seminar topic: “Unlocking the mysteries of dark matter and neutrinos deep underground”

Speaker: Liu Jianglai

Abstract:

Dark matter and neutrinos are elusive neutral matter filling up our Universe. A global scientific endeavor, located in deep underground laboratories, aims to uncover dark matter particles and elucidate the fundamental nature of neutrinos. At the forefront of this quest is the PandaX (Particle and Astrophysical Xenon) experiment, housed in the world’s deepest underground facility, the China Jinping Underground Laboratory. At the seminar, the scientific motivations and present recent progress from PandaX will be explored. These include advances in the direct detection of dark matter, as well as measurements of the ultra-rare doubly weak decays of xenon isotopes and solar neutrino interactions. Finally, the future directions of PandaX and its potential to illuminate uncharted frontiers in our understanding of the Universe will be discussed.
