Abstract:

We report on the first results on usage of resonant neutron scattering on Gd atoms in order to determine phase of reflection coefficient in neutron reflectometry. On the surface of samples under investigation there was deposited a reference layer of Gd, for which neutron scattering length density is enegry-dependent for slow neutrons. By measuring reflectivity for 3 wavelengths for every momentum transfer point we have solved the phase problem and determined modulo and phase of the reflection coefficient for unknown part of the sample.
