Abstract:
We study varieties M of clusters of solids. A critical cluster is a critical point X of some function F on such a manifold. The specificity of the situation is that X is not a Morse critical point. Even worse: at the point X, the function F is usually not smooth, and can even be discontinuous. We discuss examples of critical clusters and discuss some theorems and open questions.
