The START (STudent Advanced Research Training) programme invites students and postgraduates to join the JINR studies under the supervision of leading scientists and engineers. Applications for the 2026 summer session are accepted at start.jinr.ru from 1 February until 2 March 2026.

One of the programme’s features is the competitive selection of participants carried out by project supervisors based on the submitted applications. The programme is intended for students who finished the third year of the bachelor’s course, master’s students, and first-year PhD students. Selected participants will come to JINR for 6-8 weeks from July until November 2026.

START allows young people not only to get acquainted with the research conducted at JINR and try their hand at solving modern scientific and engineering tasks in an international team, but also to choose the topic of their future dissertations and potentially find a scientific supervisor. Successful participation in the programme can serve as the starting point on their way to making a scientific career at JINR.
