On 17 June 2026, at 16:00, the Association of Young Scientists and Specialists at JINR invites everyone interested to the next seminar that will take place in the Big Hall of the JINR Scientists’ Club (6 Joliot-Curie St, left side).
BLTP Sector Head Alan Dzhioev will deliver a presentation “The role of lepton-nucleus processes in the explosion of collapsing supernovae”.
Collapse-reduced supernovae are a key factor of the Universe’s chemical evolution. However, there is a lack of a reliable quantitative theory of their explosions. The main obstacle is the strong dependence of explosion models on the cross sections and rates of lepton-nuclear processes that control neutrino energy transfer and neutronisation of matter. The talk examines the key reactions of this type, their impact on model uncertainties, and ways to improve the theory of lepton-nuclear processes in hot and dense stellar plasmas.
