On 19 June 2024, at 4:00 PM, the Association of Young Scientists and Specialists at JINR invites everyone interested to the next seminar that will take place in the Big Hall of the JINR Scientists’ Club (6, Joliot-Curie street, left side).
Candidate of Physics and Mathematics, Senior Researcher at the Sector of Ion-Implantation Nanotechnologies and Radiation Materials Science at FLNR at JINR Ruslan Rymzhanov will deliver his report “Accelerated heavy ions in radiation materials science: from fundamental processes to technologies”.
The report discusses the issues of studying the radiation resistance of nuclear power and electronics materials irradiated by accelerated heavy ions. A brief description of the facilities and methods used to obtain ion beams with specified characteristics and techniques for post-irradiation studies of the structure and properties of irradiated systems is given. In addition, latest results of studies of the morphology of radiation damage in functional materials are presented. In particular, the speaker considers fundamental processes observed under conditions of extremely high levels of ionisation of material created by irradiation.
