AYSS seminar at JINR Scientists’ Club

Seminars

On 21 May 2025, at 4:00 PM, the Association of Young Scientists and Specialists at JINR invites everyone interested to the next seminar that will take place in the Big Hall of the JINR Scientists’ Club (6 Joliot-Curie St, left side).

A VBLHEP senior researcher Mikhail Shandov will deliver a presentation titled “Superconductors: defying Ohm’s law”.

Superconductivity was discovered by Heike Kamerlingh Onnes at the beginning of the 20th century. Regardless of the great potential associated with this phenomenon, it took almost 50 years for researchers to provide the first experimental evidence supporting the creation of a device based on superconductors. Over this period, scientists around the world discovered and experimentally proved many unusual properties of superconductors and developed a variety of theoretical models, from those explaining individual effects to phenomenological theory and mechanisms of low and high-temperature superconductivity. In addition, superconductors found application in high energy charged particle accelerators.
