AYSS seminar at JINR Scientists’ Club

Seminars

On 31 January 2024, at 4:00 PM, the Association of Young Scientists and Specialists at JINR invites everyone interested to the next seminar that will take place in the Big Hall of the JINR Scientists’ Club (6, Joliot-Curie street, left side).

Candidate of Technical Sciences, assistant and leading engineer of the Department of Chemical Technology of Glass and Sitalls, Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia Roman Alekseev will deliver his lecture “Highly refractive glass is the key to improved optics.”

The development of advanced optical systems is determined by the materials used. Glass with a high refractive index allows for optimisation of the circuits of modern optical devices, therefore making them more compact and light. Glass containing lanthanum oxide is widely used in optical materials science, since high values of optical constants are easily compatible with the manufacturability of such glass and the possibility of obtaining homogeneous workpieces.

The speaker will present the results of the development and research of highly refractive glass with a high content of lanthanum oxide, as well as various methods for studying the structure of glass and the results of laser micromodification of highly refractive glass.

There will be a small coffee break at 4:00 PM, which precedes the seminar. The report will start at 4:15 PM.

To join the event on 31 January, please fill in the form via the link not later than 4:00 PM 30 January.
