From 3 to 6 June 2025, a Baikal Collaboration Meeting is taking place at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. The participants are discussing the progress of the deep underwater Baikal-GVD Neutrino Telescope and the results of the 2025 Baikal winter expedition.
At the beginning of the meeting, it was announced that the Head of the High Energy Neutrino Astrophysics Laboratory at the Institute for Nuclear Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences (INR RAS) Zhan-Arys Dzhilkibaev was elected the new Collaboration Head. An employee of the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems at JINR (DLNP), Head of the Baikal-GVD Facility Igor Belolaptikov became his Deputy.
“The cooperation, which was established as a result of the continuous work on the project of the Baikal neutrino telescope, is the key to success of the collaboration”, DLNP JINR Director Evgeny Yakushev said in his welcome remarks. He announced that the Joint Institute had purchased a land lot on the shore of Lake Baikal to create a modern shore infrastructure, including comfortable working and living environment for researchers. The development of this infrastructure should help expand international cooperation and attract new specialists to the project.
More than 60 specialists are participating in the meeting. About 50 scientific talks covering a wide range of topics will be presented during the first three days. The focus will be on the latest results of the winter expedition, the analysis of new and previously obtained data, the development of modelling programs, and plans for the collaboration.
