At the Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energy Physics JINR, the preparations are underway for the first experiment with heavy ion beams at the BM@N facility of the NICA Accelerator Complex.
The facility is acquiring new detectors.
- a new detector consisting of 200 scintillator tiles of different sizes is being installed
- for the first time, the forward hadron calorimeter will be used at BM@N
- GEM detectors, trigger detectors, target station, a carbon fiber vacuum tube are being installed
This will be the first time when an almost complete configuration of the facility will be used in the run. A beam of xenon Xe ions with an energy of 3.5 GeV per nucleon will interact with caesium iodide CsI on the target.
