On 26 September 2026, at 16:00, the JINR Gallery will host a roundtable discussion titled “How to extract the meaning of life from a quadratic equation? Session 1”. It will be the first event in the programme accompanying the “Alexander Pankin: number as event” exhibition.
- What does the dialogue between an artist and a scientist look like today?
- What questions can art pose to science?
- What happens to our understanding of the world when different ways of exploring it meet?
The JINR Gallery will offer guests several entry points. At 12:00, there will be a curator tour with Nikita Spiridonov; at 14:00, the exhibition will be open for self-guided tours; and at 16:00, the roundtable discussion will begin.
Visitors are welcome to start with the tour and dive deeper into the conversation about Pankin’s work at the roundtable. Or visit the exhibition independently and continue exploring its ideas during the discussion. Or take part in one of the events.

- Yuri Severiukhin — Candidate of Biology and Head of the Radiation Physiology Sector at the Laboratory of Radiation Biology at JINR.
- Galina Orlova — social researcher and nuclear anthropologist. She studies physicists and Soviet atomic worlds, works with scientific archives and fields.
- Mark Hakobyan — architectural historian, researcher of architectural heritage, and employee of Garage Museum of Contemporary Art.
- Fedor Sofronov — composer, musicologist, educator, Associate Professor at the Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory, and leading researcher at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts.
