From 1 July to 2 August 2026, the JINR Volga Recreation Centre will host the annual Summer School for young people to explore a wide range of professions – from researchers and data analysts to journalists and science artists. As always, the programme will include the Element 105 physics workshop organized by the JINR University Centre, consisting of two courses that will run from 1 to 11 July. Natural science and engineering students from 18 to 25 are welcome to apply.
The workshop will include lectures by leading researchers and specialists working at advanced facilities, discussions of latest study results and publications, scientific debates and workshops on developing research and analytical skills. The young people will have an opportunity to present their own scientific ideas and receive feedback. Emphasis will be placed on the formation of scientific thinking and scientific communication skills.
The speakers will present Russian and international advanced research projects:
- NICA Collider,
- Superheavy Element Factory,
- SKIF Synchrotron Radiation Source,
- deep underwater Baikal Neutrino Telescope,
- TAIGA Experiment and other projects at the intersection of particle physics, astrophysics, and cosmology.
The Element 105 participants will tour the laboratories of the Joint Institute.
The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research is partnering with two other school divisions as well: the Technology Art Workshop and the Enlightenment Laboratory. As always, Summer School attendees will enjoy lively discussions, teamwork, as well as outdoor recreation, sports, and evening activities.
