The START (STudent Advanced Research Training) programme invites students and postgraduates to join research conducted at JINR under the supervision of leading scientists and engineers. Applications for the 2026 Winter Session are accepted at start.jinr.ru until 30 October 2025.

One of the features of the programme is competitive participant selection carried out by project supervisors based on application forms. The programme is intended for students who finished the third year of a bachelor’s course, master’s students, and first-year postgraduate students. Selected participants will visit JINR for 6–8 weeks from February until June 2026.

START allows young people not only to get acquainted with the research conducted at JINR and engage in fulfilling the tasks of modern science and engineering in an international team, but also to choose the topic of their future thesis and find a potential scientific supervisor. Successful participation in the programme can become the starting point on their way to making a research career at JINR.

We invite JINR scientists to participate in START as student supervisors. To do that, please register at start.jinr.ru and post a description of your project in the corresponding section of your profile.
