Software module for detecting electrical breakdown in HF links registered

Patents, 29 October 2025

The JINR Department of Innovation and Intellectual Property announces that on 8 October 2025, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research received a certificate of state registration of a program for high-speed detection of electrical breakdown in high-frequency links. The author is a FLNR research intern Alexandr Vybornov.

“Program for high-speed detection of electrical breakdown in high-frequency links”

The software is designed for using a digital algorithm to detect electrical breakdown in high-frequency (HF) power transmission lines, particularly in accelerator systems, resonant HF links, and coaxial resonators. The key feature is minimal detection delay. The actual bandwidth depends on the input signal-to-noise ratio and dynamic range. The program is a SystemVerilog synthesis module for programmable logic device-based equipment under development. The code structure includes the main and only module, BD_Detector.sv. The program allows for the reliable detection of electrical breakdown during short transients, providing protection for critical HF systems. Computer type: FPGA programmable logic device.
Programming language: SystemVerilog
Program size: 3485 B

Congratulations to the author on receiving the state registration certificate!
