On 24 July 2025, Director of the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia (AIRR) Alexander Smekalin and AIRR Project Manager Dmitry Mitroshin visited the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research.

The guests got acquainted with the progress in the construction of the NICA Accelerator Complex during an excursion by the Deputy Head of the VBLHEP JINR Accelerator Department Anatoly Sidorin. In addition, AIRR representatives met with the Director of the Institute, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Grigory Trubnikov. The parties agreed to discuss and work out possible mechanisms to support the development of cities with high scientific and technological potential, which, in particular, include the science cities of the Russian Federation.

During the visit of the AIRR delegation to Dubna, a meeting with the Head of Dubna city Maxim Tikhomirov and the JINR Director’s Special Representative for Science City Sergey Kulikov took place in the city administration.
