JINR Prizes are awarded for outstanding experimental, methodological, and applied research in JINR scientific fields. Submitted works must meet world-class scientific standards and be completed in the current year. Each year, the JINR Directorate appoints a jury of 11 members, including a secretary, comprising JINR Directorate representatives and leading scientists. The decision on awarding JINR Prizes becomes effective only after its approval by the JINR Scientific Council during its winter session.
