20th International Workshop on Computer Algebra

News, 21 May 2018

On 21 – 22 May 2018, the 20th International Workshop on Computer Algebra is held in the Laboratory of Information Technologies JINR. This workshop is dedicated to the memory of Vitaly Aleksandrovich Rostovtsev (23.05.1932 — 19.09.2017), Senior Researcher of LIT JINR, famous specialist in the fields of system programming and computer algebra who took an active part in organizational and scientific activities of annual workshops of MSU and JINR on computer algebra.

The workshop continues the series of meetings that has been initiated in 1997 by the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics of MSU, the Skobeltsyn Institute of Nuclear Physics and the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research.

The 2-day programme of the seminar is aimed at coverage of current topics and discussion of the latest trends and results of development of symbolic and algebraic computations.

Computer algebra originates from analytical calculations, a technology of conversion of formulas using the computer. Nowadays, thanks to development of mathematics as a science and advent of powerful computers, computer algebra has become an important synthetic discipline at the junction of algorithmic mathematics and programming. Computer algebra systems have become a necessary tool for modern mathematicians, engineers, physicists (both theorists and experimental physicists). These systems allow making large-scale analytical calculations as well as carrying out the most difficult mathematical operations effectively.
