Dark Matter Day 2018

Culture

On 31 October 2018, at 7.00 PM, the JINR Universal Public Library will hold the “Dark Matter Day”, the international holiday of popularization of science.

Don’t be afraid of the Dark

Dark Matter Day will be celebrated for the second time. Participating communities will try to understand the mysteries of dark matter and present the research and experiments that can bring us closer to solving them.

The organizer of the event is the Interactions Collaboration, a community of scientific communicators in the fields of particle physics. The collaboration organized this event to discuss this silent and invisible substance that is all around us. One does not need to have a scientific degree to evaluate the impact that the dark matter has on the Universe.

The goal of the event is to discuss this cosmic mystery and share an exciting scientific adventure with everyone.

Programme of the Dark Matter Day 2018:

  • 6:30 PM – lecture “Dark Matter”. Speaker – Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Leading Researcher of the Bogoliubov Laboratory of Theoretical Physics Anton Baushev.
His scientific interests cover the origin of hidden mass of the Universe. Short lectures on dark matter by Anton Baushev are available on the Postnauka web-site.
  • 8:00 PM – quiz “Don’t be afraid of the dark!” (in cooperation with BrainBarQuiz).
The quiz will include tasks and questions about the space, astrophysics, astrology.
More details will be delivered later!
