On 12 May 2026, a Slovak Republic delegation headed by public activist Pavol Slota visited the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research to get acquainted with its laboratories, scientific infrastructure, and research projects.

The working programme began at the Bogoliubov Laboratory of Theoretical Physics, where the delegates learned about the BLTP JINR history and theoretical studies conducted at the Institute. At the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions, the guests visited the hall of the DC-280 Cyclotron – the core of the Superheavy Element Factory. In addition, Pavol Slota and his colleagues toured the machine hall of the Meshcheryakov Laboratory of Information Technologies, where the Govorun Supercomputer is installed. MLIT JINR representatives told them about the capabilities of the JINR Multifunctional Information and Computing Complex (MICC).

In the second half of the day, the Slovak delegation visited the site of the NICA Accelerator Complex at the Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energy Physics. A meeting with representatives of the leadership of the Joint Institute took place at the JINR Scientists’ Club.

“I am very pleased with our visit to JINR. I thank the Institute’s management for the opportunity to visit the laboratories and get introduced to JINR’s scientific infrastructure”, Pavol Slota shared.
