The Director of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research visited the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) at the Cadarache nuclear energy research centre in southern France as part of a Russian delegation led by Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and Russia’s Plenipotentiary to JINR Valery Falkov.

At the ITER site, the delegation toured key facilities, including the Radiofrequency Heating Building with gyrotron complexes and the Port Plug Test Facility. In addition, a meeting with Director-General of the ITER megascience project, Pietro Barabaschi, took place.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the opportunities for the development of scientific collaboration and supported the initiative to preserve the memory of Academician Evgeny Velikhov, one of the initiators and managers of the project, at the ITER facility.
