On 31 May 2025, the JINR Universal Public Library will host the Starting Summer Early! festival, held with the support of the JINR Women’s Committee and AYSS JINR.
Adult programme:
- 3:00 PM – performance of the Applied Acoustics band (Ivan Shlyapin, Marina Stupnikova, Anait Kazarosyan) in the courtyard of the adult part of the library;
- 4:00 PM – 20-minute mini-lectures in the big hall:
- “Slavic gods. Myths and reality” by a local historian, archaeologist, certified tour guide, member of the Heritage foundation Larisa Panteleeva.
- “Travelling while doing good: volunteer opportunities in Russia” by a participant of several volunteer projects Anna Stukalova.
- “Summer is a small life. How do we spend it in a meaningful way?” by a certified practicing psychologist, a senior lecturer at Dubna State University, host of scientific and practical seminars and training programmes, participant of forums and conferences Victoria Novikova.
- 6:00 PM – Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom (18+) by the JINR Cinema Club in English with Russian subtitles.
- Start of the summer reading marathon for adults.
Children’s programme:
- 12:00 PM – Pink Giraffe publishing house: outdoor presentation of modern children’s literature, consultations on choosing books, sales.
- 12:00 PM – outdoor games.
- 12:00 PM – outdoor quest.
- 2:00 PM – indoor master classes:
- making national Uzbek tilla-kosh head adornment (for children over 5);
- “Portraits of literary characters: Emerald City heroes” (drawing, for children over 7-8, by appointment);
- “A bottle of happiness” (for children aged 6-12, by appointment).
- 3:00 PM – indoor Lets READers for children over 6, no appointment required.
- Start of the summer reading marathon for children.
