Competition for participation in 6th Young Scientist Forum of BRICS Members

Dear colleagues, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation informs about a competitive selection for participation in the 6th Young Scientist Forum of the member states of the BRICS Interstate Association (hereinafter – the Forum).

The Forum is scheduled for 13 – 16 September 2021 online chaired by India. The deadline for applications is 20 August 2021.

The topic of the Forum is “Creating a better society using science, technology, and innovation”. The programme of the Forum includes three parallel sessions on the following topics: health care, energetics, cyber-physical systems and their application. Within the framework of the Forum, there will be scientific activities and communications aimed to provide interaction of participants and formation of their own network of contacts.

Please, pay attention that there will be traditional for the Forum competition “Young innovators of the BRICS members”. Authors of the three best works will receive cash prizes: I place – 25 thousand dollars, II place – 15 thousand dollars, III place – 10 thousand dollars. The competition’s goal is to find and encourage the best results of scientific-research and innovation projects that represent technological innovations able to significantly contribute to the development of scientific and technological industries of the BRICS countries. Projects submitted for the competition should present innovative ideas in the fields of health care, energetics, and cyber-physical systems aimed to solve social and economic challenges existing in the BRICS countries. Innovative ideas and/or prototypes should not be presented on the market at the moment.

Thus, each BRICS country may nominate 21 delegates: 5 young scientists in the fields of health care, 5 young scientists engaged in energetics, 5 young researchers keen on cyber-physical systems, 4 innovators, and 1 expert member of the jury of the BRICS Young Innovator Competition. Young researchers under 40 should have a qualification of at least specialist/master (academic degree is welcome). Young innovators should be aged under 30. All participants should have an Upper-Intermediate or Advanced level of English.

We also inform you that the list of the competition’s topics also includes the topics paid special attention to at the Joint Institute:

  • Grid technologies
  • Battery technologies
  • Cyber security, IoT and Data Science
  • Renewable energy
  • Innovative health technologies
