Abstract:
Recent results of (alpha, alpha’) experiment (iThemba, South Africa) for isoscalar monopole (IS0)
excitations in prolate 24Mg and oblate 28Si are analyzed within Skyrme Quasiparticle Random Phase
Approximation method. The main attention is paid to the deformation-induced coupling of the isoscalar
monopole (IS0) and quadrupole (IS2) excitations. The best description of the experimental data is
obtained with the parametrization SkP with a low incompressibility modulus K=202 MeV. The calculations
show that, in deformed nuclei, we need the simultaneous description of IS0 and IS2 excitations.
