Abstract:

The problem of quantum-mechanical description of a fusion of two nuclei that occurs under the conditions of a strong coupling of their relative motion to surface vibrations is analyzed. A new efficient method (KANTBP), developed in JINR, is used to solve numerically coupled Schrodinger equations (the coupled-channels approach) with boundary conditions corresponding to a total absorption of the flux that has overcome a multidimensional Coulomb barrier. A comparison of the presented results with available experimental data demonstrates the advantage of the KANTBP with respect to widely used numerical method known in literature as the CCFULL [K. Hagino et al., Comput.Phys.Commun. 123 (1999) 143].
