A catalogue was published in continuation of The Artefacts of Francisco Infante exhibition at the JINR Gallery for readers to preserve memory of the display and revisit the works, ideas, and meanings.
The catalogue, issued by the IMA-press publishing house, features photographs of over 140 works presented at the Gallery, including graphics, paintings, artefacts, kinetic objects, and archival materials. The book presents texts in Russian and English, highlighting JINR’s international status and making the materials available to a multicultural audience. Through Francisco Infante’s own descriptions and annotations accompanying the pictures, the readers can access, beyond the imagery, the history of their creation and the author’s artistic search.
Among the contents, texts revealing the artist’s work from different points of view hold special significance. These include the “Art as continuous experiment” research by exhibition curator, art historian, Veretevo Art Director Irina Gorlova, an article by Nicoletta Misler and John Ellis Bowlt titled “Space, Movement, Infinity: Francisco Infante and atomic energy”, and a text by art historian, curator Alexander Petrovichev “Francisco Infante. Art space as the discovery of meaning”.
Readers can retrace the exhibition path, stop at familiar works, gain new insight into them, and continue the conversation about Francisco Infante’s art beyond the exhibition space.
“The Artefacts of Francisco Infante exhibition catalogue by JINR and Veretevo Art Estate is not just an opportunity to preserve the memory of this project. It is an independent artistic publication comprising reflections and various views on Francisco Infante’s work. Through the years, it will remain a testament to this project”, JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov noted.
The publication was presented on 21 July at the Gallery of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. Among the participants were Francisco Infante, exhibition curator Irina Gorlova, JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov, and Veretevo Art Estate founder Andrey Gnatyuk. As part of the creative meeting, the artist personally presented the catalogue and conducted a tour of the display.
