Memorial plaques were opened in Dubna streets

News, 29 April 2016

On the initiative of JINR, in 12 Dubna streets named after outstanding scientists, it was decided to install memorial plaques which briefly describe after whom the street was named. Five plaques appeared in streets of Veksler, Frank, Flerov, Kurchatov and Joliot-Curie in late March. Now plaques were installed in other seven streets: Vernov Street, Vavilov Street, Pontecorvo Street, Sakharov Street, Blokhintsev Street, Baldin Street and Dzhelepov Street.

A few years ago, the first memorial plaque was opened in Bogoliubov Avenue – in the corner of the house number 15, later – in Vernov Street, and a year ago – in Mescheryakov Street. Almost all scientists who were commemorated in the city street names, had once worked at JINR.
