NICA 2023 workshop to bring together leading baryonic matter specialists

News, 22 December 2023

On 25–27 December 2023, the International Workshop on Methods of Data Analysis and Processing in Experiments at the NICA Accelerator Complex (NICA 2023), organized jointly by the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (NRNU MEPhI) and JINR, will take place online.

The workshop will bring together experts involved in the theory and analysis of real data from experiments on the nucleus-nucleus collision research and in the preparation of the BM@N and MPD Experiments at the NICA Accelerator Complex. The main scientific goal of these experiments is to study the phase diagram of highly compressed baryonic matter in laboratory conditions. In nature, such matter is formed only in mergers of neutron stars or as a result of supernova explosions.

More than 100 scientists from Bulgaria, China, India, Israel, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Russia, Serbia, the USA, and Uzbekistan will take part in the workshop, including experimentalists from international collaborations: BM@N (NICA), MPD (NICA), STAR (BNL) and ALICE (CERN) and theoreticians from the JINR Laboratory of Theoretical Physics and other scientific centres researching strongly interacting matter.

The international workshop is organized by the NRNU MEPhI group for the study of nucleus-nucleus collisions together with the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics and the JINR Laboratory of High Energy Physics. The event will take place online on Zoom.

Detailed information about the event is available via the website. To participate in the workshop, registration is required. The deadline for application submission is 25 December.
