BMBF-JINR Workshop

Conferences, 14 August 2013

A Workshop ‘Instrument development on long pulse neutron sources’ will be held on 18-21 August 2013 in the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics, JINR.

The Workshop aims at discussing the modern tendencies in the development of the neutron scattering instrumentation around large-scale facilities operating in a pulsed regime including pulsed reactors and spallation neutron sources. The task of the Workshop is to emphasize the common features characterizing the operating IBR-2M pulsed reactor in FLNP JINR (Dubna, Russia) and the European Spallation Source ESS being designed with respect to the most effective use of the long neutron pulse of these neutron sources for various neutron scattering techniques and related experimental equipment. A special task of the Workshop is to outline the possibilities for collaborative projects within the BMBF-JINR Cooperation Program on this topic.

The scope of the Workshop includes:
  •     Special diffraction methods;
  •     Spectrometry with inelastic neutron scattering;
  •     Small-angle neutron scattering and neutron reflectometry;
  •     Neutron imaging;
  •     New methods based on neutron polarization;
  •     Neutron detectors;
  •     Simulation of neutron instruments.

The working language is English.

The Workshop is organized by the German Ministry of Education and Research BMBF and Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in the frame of BMBF-JINR Cooperation Program.

The Workshop will be held at the Conference Hall of the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (FLNP JINR), 3d floor. The opening session is scheduled for August 19 (Monday) at 9:30.
