Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions celebrates its 55th anniversary

Organization, 14 May 2012

Dear staff members of the Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions,

On behalf of the Directorate of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research I would like to congratulate you on the remarkable date – the 55th anniversary of the foundation of the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions, which is a part of glory and pride of our Joint Institute for Nuclear Research!

Over these years, due to talent and selfless efforts of all FLNR staff members, the laboratory community has worked up its glorious way, and has become one of the world’s leading centers of nuclear physics. You have always forged ahead, created new accelerators, developed and improved the experimental base, made impressive discoveries. One of the most striking discoveries made by your labor recently immortalized in the history of science the name of the founder of the laboratory – Academician Georgy Nikolaevich Flerov!

As pioneers of heavy ion physics, FLNR staff members established new research directions which were supported and developed in international nuclear centers.

The laboratory provides not only profound and significant basic research, but also performs attractive educational programmes. Applied works implemented as production of track membranes, as well as advanced developments in the fields of radiation materials science and nanotechnology, were widely deployed. Implementation cyclotron centers upon FLNR projects and in JINR Member States with direct involvement of FLNR is a significant contribution to development of cooperation and contribution to world science.

Dear colleagues! I wish you future success and prosperity, and I wish you to stay equally persistent and tireless in achievement of identified goals. Our Institute is proud of your glorious achievements!

JINR Director Academician Victor Matveev
