International Workshop «Structural aspects of biocompatible ferrocolloids: stabilization, properties control and application» August 19-20, Dubna Moscow Reg., Russia

Conferences, 12 August 2011

The Workshop aims at discussing the main problems and tasks of the modern structure analysis of ferrocolloidal systems (colloidal systems with magnetic nanoparticles) designed for biomedical applications (magnetic concentration of drugs, magnetic resonance tomography, magnetic hyperthermia, etc). In the course of the Workshop the fundamental aspects of the structure determination in a wide scale range of 1 – 1000 nm and their role in the synthesis and applications of biocompatible ferrocolloids, which impose special requirements on the stability and biocompatibility of magnetic nanoparticles, will be covered. A special task of the Workshop is to outline the present-day possibilities of the experiments on neutron and synchrotron radiation scattering as a part of complex investigations of nanosystems.

The scope of Workshop is:
  • Synthesis of biocompatible ferrocolloids and design of stimuli-responsive particles;
  • Structure characterization and diagnostics of biocompatible ferrocolloids;
  • Modifications and functionalization of ferrocolloids for biomedical applications.

The Workshop is organized by the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (FLNP JINR), Dubna, Russia; National Research Centre Kurchatov Institute (NRC KI), Moscow, Russia; Center for Fundamental and Advanced Technical Research, Romanian Academy/Timisoara Division (CFATR), Romania; Moscow State University (MSU), Russia; with the support of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR).

The Workshop is announced as a satellite meeting of the Moscow International Symposium on Magnetism (MISM-2011), August 21 – 25, 2011, Moscow State University, Russia.

The Workshop will be held at the Dubna branch of the Skobeltsyn Institute of Nuclear Physics, Moscow State University located at the address: Dubna, Moscow Reg., Leningradskaya str. 12. The opening session is scheduled for August 19 (Friday) at 9:45 in the Blokhintsev auditorium.
