At the meetings of JINR PACs

The meetings of the Programme Advisory Committees on the major JINR activities were started in the Institute. The agendas of all three meetings include reports of JINR Vice-Director M.G. Itkis and R. Lednický on the Resolution of the 116th Session of the JINR Scientific Council (September 2014) and the decisions of the Committee of Plenipotentiaries of JINR Member States (November 2014), the information of chairpersons of the PACs on implementation of the recommendations of previous meetings, scientific reports, reports on topics and projects and reports of young scientists on their research on the PACs subject areas.Yesterday, the 41st meeting of the Programme Advisory Committee for Condensed Matter Physics was opened. I. Zinkovskaya presented information about the statistics of implementation of the User Programme at the IBR-2 reactor. An overview of the main scientific and methodological results on condensed matter study at the IBR-2 reactor obtained in 2014 was made by D.P. Kozlenko. I.A. Bobrikov spoke about the current status of the HRFD diffractometer. D.V. Podgainy devoted his presentation to new opportunities for high-performance computing using heterogeneous computing cluster of the JINR CICC. Short reviews on schools and conferences on the PAC’s subject area were presented by Yu.E. Gorshkov, E.I. Litvinenko, I.V. Koshlan. Scientific reports were made by A.I. Filyarovski, V.A. Skuratov, A.N. Nechaev, L. Ježková, V.L. Katkov, S.V. Mitrofanov. The 42nd meeting of the Programme Advisory Committee for Particle Physics will be held on 26-27 January. Participants of this meeting will hear presentations by V.D. Kekelidze about the progress towards realization of the Nuclotron-NICA and MPD projects, by A.S. Sorin about simulation and quantitative assessment of signals and observables in the BM@N and MPD experiments; a report of the Nuclotron sessions coordinator E.A. Strokovski; M.N. Kapishin will speak about the progress towards realization of the BM@N project. P. Senger will present the physics case and status of the CBM experiment at GSI/FAIR. The agenda of the meeting includes a discussion of the JINR neutrino programme and, in particular, the “Baikal” project which will be held by V.A. Bednyakov. V.I. Korobov, L.G. Afanasiev, A.D. Kovalenko will make scientific reports. The 41st Session of the Programme Advisory Committee for Nuclear Physics will be held on 29-30 January. V.N. Shvetsov will make a report on the upgrade of the IREN facility; G.G. Gulbekian will make a report on the progress in building the Factory of Superheavy Elements. A.V. Andreev, V.K. Utyonkov, A.I. Frank will make scientific reports.
