Preparation of JINR Days in Paris has started

On 8 – 9 November 2017, a JINR delegation took part in the 11th meeting of the Franco-Russian Mixed Board on science and technology in Paris.

The delegation from Dubna started its work by a meeting with C. Chardonnet, Director of the Department of Research Infrastructure, in The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation of France. Ursula Basler and Fanny Farget, Deputy Directors of IN2P3, and other Ministry staff members also participated in the meeting. JINR was represented by Head of the JINR International Cooperation Department D.V. Kamanin, Deputy Head of the Department A.A. Kotova and Advisor to the JINR Directorate M.Yu. Tumanova.

The meeting was devoted to scientific cooperation of JINR with French research organizations and to enhancing the cooperation status. As one of the steps to this, the intention of the parties to arrange JINR Days in Paris in February 2018 was confirmed. The 60th anniversary of cooperation between French scientists and JINR scientists and the 45th anniversary of signing the JINR-IN2P3 agreement that are celebrated this year convey festive atmosphere to the coming events.

On 7 November, the JINR delegation paid a visit to UNESCO Headquarters and met Mr. M.G. Zebaze-Kana, Chief of the Science Policy and Capacity-Building Division of the Natural Sciences sector, and his colleagues. The implementation of UNESCO-JINR agreements concerning internships for young scientists who plan to work in JINR from UNESCO was discussed. During the meeting it was noted that UNESCO-JINR collaboration has 20-years’ experience and both organizations are interested in further cooperation improvement.

The JINR delegation finished its work on 9 November by participation in a round-table meeting of Russian universities that are involved in the state programme “5 – 100” aimed at enhancing the prestige of Russian higher education and French research universities included in the same French governmental programme “Quality initiative”. Brief exchange of opinions with representatives of leading French universities showed potential interest to JINR International Education programmes; preliminary agreements on further cooperation were discussed – the idea of special visits to Dubna in the near future as well as participation of universities’ representatives in the planned “JINR Days in Paris“ in February 2018 was discussed.
