The JINR Code of Professional Ethics approved

On 16 July 2018, JINR Director Academician V.A. Matveev approved the Code of Professional Ethics for JINR employees.

The final version of the Code was adopted at the meeting of the JINR Science and Technology Council on 15 November 2017. It was preceeded by almost two-year preparatory work conducted by the working group under JINR Director headed by JINR STC Chairman Professor R.V. Jolos. The draft of the document was developed according to discussions and recommendations of the sessions of the Committee of Plenipotentiaries of the Governments of the JINR Member States (November 2014 and March 2015).

When starting to draft the JINR Code of Professional Ethics at the end of 2015, the then JINR Vice-Director and the present First Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of RF and Plenipotentiary Representative of Russia at JINR Academician G.V. Trubnikov described the document as following: “This charter describes the high ethical standards of behaviour that we set for ourselves, and we have the right to expect our colleagues to uphold these standards. This document is intended to create a favourable work climate in the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. It does not duplicate or extend our existing legal rights and obligations.”
