News, 30 April 2025

On 22–23 April 2025, employees of the Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energy Physics visited the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR). The purpose of the visit of Deputy Head for Scientific Work of the VBLHEP JINR Accelerator Division Valery Lebedev and researcher Yegor Tamashevich to Belarus was to expand collaboration with the university’s departments specialising in accelerator technologies.

A seminar at BSUIR brought together representatives of the departments of micro and nanoelectronics, information and measurement systems, and physics, as well as heads of the university’s research centres. The participants discussed opportunities for joint studies, BSUIR’s involvement in the JINR international projects, and the development of educational programmes aimed at enhancing students’ skills in accelerator physics.

Valery Lebedev gave the Colliders and NICA lecture for BSUIR undergraduates, Master’s students, and postgraduates. He presented an overview of modern accelerator complexes, emphasising the uniqueness of the JINR megascience project. Special attention was paid to inviting BSUIR students to take part in the Joint Institute’s summer trainings and internships in the 2025-2026 academic year.

The main objective of the visit was to establish contacts with BSUIR departments and scientific laboratories engaged in research in semi and superconductor physics, microelectronics, materials science, and microwave technologies. These areas are critically important for the implementation of large-scale JINR projects, including the NICA Accelerator Complex.
