On 25 March 2019, the session of the Committee of Plenipotentiaries of the governments of the JINR Member States, a superior governing body of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, was held. Committee’s sessions are held twice a year to make major decisions on the Institute’s activities.

At the March session, results of activities of the previous year were summed up, implementation of the budget for 2018 and the JINR budget for 2019 (revised draft) were considered, as well as recommendations of the JINR Scientific Council and milestones of the meeting of the JINR Finance Committee. Information about the NICA project, the Baikal-GVD, the Factory of superheavy elements was presented. Right after the session, participants of the Committee of Plenipotentiary Representatives took part in the opening of the SHE Factory. On that day, a new cyclotron was launched in the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions. The NICA project is at the implementation stage.
