World science, 05 August 2016

At the ongoing conference ICHEP 2016 these days there is wide stream of new results from LHC obtained literally in the last days. On Friday morning (5.00 pm MSK), two short reports of ATLAS and CMS collaborations will reveal the main intrigue of this year: they will tell if they confirm or not, the mysterious two-photon burst at a mass of 750 GeV that was discovered six months ago and has generated lots of buzz among physicists.

Right after this, CERN will hold a seminar on the same topic. Finally, at exactly the same time (6.00 pm MSK) in Chicago, an event for the press with questions to representatives of the collaborations will be broadcasted online via the webcast service.

It remains to add that CMS partly killed the suspense, when they uploaded graphics of a future report and covered them with a password only after a couple of hours. However, the elementy.ru web-site will provide the online broadcast of developments over this riddle of the LHC.
