On 21-22 September 2017, a working visit to JINR was paid by Avni Aksoy, Director of the Institute of Accelerator Technology of the Ankara University (Turkey), Head of the TARLA project.

Avni Aksoy was acquainted with the construction site of the NICA collider, visited the Factory of Superheavy Elements, the training linear accelerator and the Scientific and Engineering Practicum of the JINR University Centre. Avni Aksoy also met with JINR Vice-Director Richard Lednický; during the conversation, possible areas of mutual interest were identified.

A meeting ‘without ties’ with JINR Chief Engineer Boris Gikal concluded the visit. Avni Aksoy shared his impressions about the visit and expressed the opinion that cooperation with JINR on various topics of engineering, applied and fundamental research may be of interest not only for the research center he represents, but also for a wider range of scientists and engineers of Turkey. The parties agreed to develop a deployment plan for cooperation and formalization of the relations, and firstly, the educational opportunities of the Institute will be employed.
