World Senior Games on the birthplace of the Olympics

Culture, 26 June 2017

On 9 – 11 June 2017, the World Senior Games 2017 were held in the birthplace of the Olympics in the Athenian Riviera. The programme of the Games included competitions in 15 sports, including unusual sports – Nordic walking, bridge, and golf. However, since this tournament is not included in the “Masters” competition, those sports come as no surprise to the organizers, considering that they attract people over the age of 50, and announced these Games as “a chance to show that Sport knows no age boundaries and that those who breathe sports, the ones that compete with all their heart and soul are always Champions.”

Our city and the Club “Element 105″ were represented by Irina Migulina, who participated in the swimmers competition. This competition took place in the outdoor 50-metres pool for a shortened programme at distances of 50 and 100 meters in all styles, 200 meters freestyle, individual medley and relay. Our athlete won 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze.
