At the past meetings of the PAC for Particle Physics

The 46th meeting of the Programme Advisory Committee for Particle Physics was held on 16-17 January 2017 in the International Conference Hall. Chairman of the PAC for Particle Physics Professor I. Tserruya reported on implementation of the recommendations of the previous meeting of the PAC for Particle Physics. JINR Vice-Director R. Lednický spoke about the resolution of the 120th Session of the JINR Scientific Council and the decisions of the sessions of the Committee of Plenipotentiaries of the JINR Member States which were held respectively in September and November 2016.

Reports on the progress towards realization of the NICA mega-science project –establishment of the accelerator complex, the results of the 53rd run at the Nuclotron (October-December 2016), the infrastructure developments and projects MPD and BM@N were presented.

The first day continued with reports on themes and projects approved for completion in 2016 and proposals for their continuation, as well as reports on the scientific results obtained by the JINR groups in the LHC experiments — ALICE, ATLAS, CMS. In the second half of the day was presented a proposal for a new project, scientific reports, written reports on projects previously approved until the end of the Seven-year plan for 2010–2016, and poster presentations by young scientists in the field of particle physics research.

The second day was devoted to a general discussion and elaboration of the recommendations of the PAC.
